Fire Guts Commerce Building In Lagos Government Secretariat

A portion of the Lagos State Ministry of Commerce and Industry at the Lagos State Government Secretariat, Alausa in Ikeja, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, has been gutted by fire. It gathered that the fire
started around 1pm Saturday and razed part of the third floor of the ministry.

Thick smoke enveloped the building around 1pm with balls of fire emanating from the building thereafter, a source who craved anonymity said.
     ''At least four offices were destroyed in the fire.''

Officials of the Lagos State Fire Service raced to the scene and were able to put out the fire before it razed the entire building.

The Alausa Fire Station responded to the emergency with 10,000 litres of water to quell the fire, sources said.

The cause of the fire has not been ascertained.
