
Aliko Dangote, the president of Dangote
Group of Companies, has promised to build a
500 megawatt power plant for Kano, Katsina,
Jigawa and Kaduna states.
Africa’s richest man disclosed this in his in
his address at the 36th Kano Trade Fair held
in Kano.
He was represented at the event by the
executive director shareholders management,
Engineer Mansur Ahmad.
Dangote was quoted as saying that power
plant is a intentional attempt to support local
economy and wealth creation.

He added that without power manufacture
and commerce will cripple and businesses
will enormously decrease and that has been
the situation in Kano for decades, saying
anything to be done to bring back such
would have to be done now than anytime.
The executive director disclosed that they
were now discussing with the Kano state
government on the 500 mega watt power
supply and final deal will be signed in few
weeks to come.
Dangote reportedly has been giving support
to areas of health and education in Kano and
in the next few weeks they are going to
commission six out of the health care
facilities constructed and were completed to
Kano government.
Engr. Ahmad noted that Dangote has built
over a hundred borehole across the state and
the theater health facility at Murtala
Muhammad Specialist Hospital which was
postponed due to design discrepancies and
would soon be take off.
Millions of Nigerians are experiencing low
power supply in the country in spite of the
huge amount of money the Federal
Government has spent to improve electricity
supply.
