Google Inc., world renowned multinational
technology company has predicted the
internet market in Nigeria will experience a
huge growth in the next two to three years.
Google representatives, Alfonso de Gaetano,
head of emerging markets, and Benjamin
made made this known during an official visit
to Naij.com corporate office in Lagos on
Thursday, November 26.
”From what we’ve seen especially the visit to
phone shops in terms of growth traffic on
mobile we really believe that this market we
really explode in the next two three years.

Though Google has its physical presence in
African countries like South Africa, Kenya,
Nigeria, Ghana, Gaetano said the company is
prepared to do more that expected.
The google team reiterated that the company
is committed to ensuring that in the next two
or three years there is another billion people
connected to the internet
‘‘We plan to ensure another 3 billion get
connected to the internet. If you do that, it
changes the whole system and what we want
is that these billions of people would not only
have access to the internet but also make use
of them.

The representatives who were impressed by
the attitude of Nigerians to the use of the
internet emphasised that making use of the
internet would help to create more
companies on the internet.
”We would facilitate the platform for Nigerian
businesses to export the Nigeria market
everywhere in the world because so many
people have access to Nigeria .
”It is important we enable companies,
publishers, e-commerce players to make most
of the internet and that’s really most important
to us.’ ‘ he emphasised.
On daily basis, more Nigerians are getting
connected to the internet. The Nigerian
Communications Commission (NCC) as at
February this year put the number of internet
users on the country’s telecom networks as
83,362,814 .
The 2015 Global Internet Report also
presented data that showed that, apart form
the internet data, lack of useful contents are
core to why people are not opting into the
use of the internet.
