On Tuesday, Cameroonian Defense
Ministry claimed that Cameroonian soldiers
killed more than 100 Boko Haram fights
and freed more than 900 civilians held
captive by the insurgent group.
Speaking to the BBC on Tuesday, the Defense
Minister, Joseph Beti Assomo, stated that the
freed civilians were the result of a three-day
operation conducted at the end of November.
Thus far, there has been no independent
verification of the Cameroonian military’s claims
regarding the rescue operation. According to
Vanguard Newspaper, the West African nation
suffered a twin suicide attack on Tuesday which
left four dead, Boko Haram is believed
responsible for the attack.
Cameroon is part of a regional Joint Military
Task Force (JTF) dedicated to fighting the
terrorist group.
