Court of Appeal rules against Akwa Ibom Governor, Udom Emmanuel

The Appeal Court sitting in Abuja on Friday
upheld the nullification of election in 18 Akwa
Ibom Local Government Areas (LGAs) as
ordered by the state Governorship Election
Tribunal.
Governor Udom Emmanuel had approached the
court to challenge the October 21, 2015
judgment of the tribunal which nullified his
election in 18 out of the 31 LGAs in the state.
The court in its ruling on Friday ordered the
Independent National Electoral Commission
(INEC) to conduct fresh governorship election in
the affected local governments.
Governor Emmanuel's victory is being challenged
by the candidate of the All Progressives
Congress in the April 11 election, Okon Umana.
