Military Says It Will Ensure ‘One Indivisible Nigeria’


Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General
Gabriel Olonisakin, has said the Nigerian
military would continue to maintain one
indivisible entity.
He spoke in Abuja on Thursday while
receiving the Commander of the French
forces in Senegal , Brigadier General Pascal
Facon, at the defence headquarters.
General Olonisakin stressed that no matter
the attempt of any group or persons to
entrench disunity in some sections of the
country, the Nigerian military “will fight to
ensure one Nigeria and one destiny”.
Collaborate In Fighting Insurgency
His guest, Brigadier General Facon, had told
the gathering that the French government
was willing to collaborate in fighting
insurgency in the north-east.
He further applauded the Nigerian military
for their successes in containing the
activities of Boko Haram.
Recently the Federal Government has faced
several protests from pro-Biafra group in
the south-east, the Islamic Movement of
Nigeria in Zaria and the Boko Haram
insurgency which has claimed more than
10,000 lives and displaced over 2.2 million
persons.
