This is the most disgusting shop I have ever
seen, damn, feel like throwing up... They had
packets of food on sale which had been
''gnawed and partially eaten by rodents'', a court
heard.
Mouse droppings were found on shelves and the
counter and food - including meat - was being
sold weeks past its sell-by dates at Tina Off-
licence in Billingham, County Durham.
Pics of the state of the shop were ''some of the
worst'' district judge Kristina Harrison had ever
seen, she told Teesside Magistrates' Court
today.
She said she was amazed that customers were
using the shop at the time.
Abdul Ghafoor, 58, of Hall Drive, Acklam,
pleaded guilty to nine food hygiene offences.
The shop was visited by environmental health
officers from Stockton Council on February 5 this year.

Prosecutor Michelle Stowe said it was clearly
apparent that the premises was in a ''filthy,
cluttered state''.
A packet of Bachelors Super Pasta 'n' Sauce was
found which had been ''heavily gnawed'' and partially eaten by rodents.

Mouse droppings were found throughout the
premises, including on shelves and the serving
counter next to open sweets.
Food was found to be out of date including ham
and cheese crackers which were two-and-a-half
weeks past its sell-by date. A packet of
sausages were more than a week out of date.
Ms Stowe said: ''The general hygiene was
disgraceful. Stock had been gnawed or eaten by
pests, walls and floors were filthy and there
were mouse droppings throughout the premises.''
Ms Stowe said customers were in the shop at
the time of the inspection and pointed out to the
officers that stock was out of date.
District Judge Harrison told Ghafoor he had
shown a ''flagrant disregard'' to food hygiene.
