Natalie Cole's family have paid tribute to the
"courageous" singer following her death aged
65.
A statement from her son Robert Yancy and
sisters Timolin and Casey Cole said: "It is with
heavy hearts that we bring to you all the news
of our mother and sister's passing.
"Natalie fought a fierce, courageous battle,
dying how she lived..with dignity, strength and
honour.
"Our beloved mother and sister will be greatly
missed and remain UNFORGETTABLE in our
hearts forever."


The famed musician and daughter of star Nat
King Cole passed away this week in a Los
Angeles hospital after cancelling a series of
live tour dates recently.
According to TMZ, the singer died from
congestive heart failure, but suffered from
several health issues with complications from a
kidney transplant and Hepatitis C also
contributing.
Natalie is said to have suffered from liver
disease, and received chemotherapy in 2008 for
Hepatitis C.
Natalie Cole dead at 65
The star had recently cancelled tour dates in
late December, as well as one scheduled for
February.
She spoke openly about her past struggles with
drug addiction in her 2000 autobiography,
before entering rehab in 1983.
Natalie was well known for hits including This
Will Be and a cover of Unforgettable with her
father.

Tributes have poured in and Rev. Jesse
Jackson tweeted on New Year's Day:
"#NatalieCole, sister beloved & of substance
and sound. May her soul rest in peace.
#Inseperable."
Tragically her father died before Natalie began
her solo career, but she continued to soar to
success.
Natalie rose to musical success in the
mid-1970s as an R&N singer, before re-
emerging in 1987 with her album Everlasting.
She won an incredible nine Grammys from 21
nominations over her career, including the Best
New Artist Grammy.
Cole was married three times and leaves
behind a son, Robert Adam "Robbie" Yancy,
from her first marriage to producer Marvin
Yancy.
