The gubernatorial election that held yesterda,
January 9, in some areas in Bayelsa state
has officially ended and collation which was
suspended earlier is about to commence
again.

The collation centre is located at the complex
of State Electoral Commision at hospital road
in Yenagoa. Security operatives are
conducting routine checks, journalists are
busy positioning themselves, cameras, OB
Van in readiness for the collation exercise
which will commence any moment from now.

INEC had declared yesterday that the
collation exercise would commence today,
January 10, by 11am. But at the moment, the
exercise is yet to kick off.

A source told Naij.com correspondent in
Yenagoa the delay is caused by the results
still expected from Southern Ijaw local
government by the electoral body.

Yesterday, armed thugs allegedly caused
havoc in Ekeremor town, Ekeremor local
government area bringing all electoral
activities to a halt.
Also, in Southern Ijaw local government,
precisely in Amassoma Grammar School, men
of the Joint Task Force have repelled efforts
by armed political thugs who attempted to
hijack electoral materials meant for some
units in the ward.
