Touching story wrote by a blogger " why compare me"

I have a daughter who is more than a son”
and I hated that line for all my life, even now
and forever. Now you must be wondering
why? It’s a compliment!!! No its not, it’s a
sugar coated bigotry that further stimulates
the destruction of your self-esteem . Let me
explain. The aforementioned compliment is
something that pushes you to do things
that you might normally not like or might
not do if every living day of your life you
were not reminded that because your
parents did not have a boy, you have to be
one: Got it?
I was the first child of my parents; they
always supported me in my endeavors and
shared my disappointments with me. They
always encouraged me to be a better
version of me, to achieve whatever
education can provide you. Yeah I know
‘your typical middle class parents’ and I am a
proud middle class.
However, they would always utter these
words whenever we would attend any
parties or at times just randomly which
totally flabbergasted me for three major
reasons:
· Why would you favor the one over the
other?
· Above all we have so many Gods and
Godesses who are women and we treat
them with utmost respect?
· If we are not needed why God made us and
even if lets say he made a mistake, then we
should have perished like that bird dodo and
dinosaurs.
I have a younger brother and believe me I
love him to death as we depend on each
other but whenever I would hear these
words they would irk me and at times turned
me against my own blood , imagine how
painful it must have been? And no I am not
the sole example; there are many parents
who talk like this. You are creating a rift
between your kids, is that in anyway fair?
Fast forward 10 years and I am bigger than
my brother, to be honest the biggest in my
family. In a country where people tend to be
skinny, especially before marriage it’s a
death sentence. Combine this with the
feeling that you have to be better than your
brother while you are not as you are a fatso:
a deadly concoction for your self-esteem.
So why do people think that we are in some
way weaker or lesser than guys? I have
broken it down in a couple of points:
· Women are weaker than men in physical
strength having said that there are many
women who can flip many men at the same
time. The funny part is very few guys really
go for a muscular girl, they mostly want a
delicate and gorgeous girl. Please make up
your mind. Above all I don’t think anyone
can bear the pain of labor. I am not sure if a
guy is given that pain, he can endure it.
Some women have many consequences for
a lifetime after giving birth and trust me not
many men will be able to bear it.
· We are more towards fashion, ofcourse we
are girls duh!!!! ‘A girls gotta do what a girls
gotta do’ alright? You want a cave woman,
go find one. And yes fashion industry for
women is one of the largest industries ever,
please read Wikipedia. However, it was
something looked down by our parents as it
‘attracts’ men like they are some little bees
and we are covered with honey. Really dad,
really??? Till this day I don’t have a clue
about fashion lol
· We need safety and security. This is the
biggest, most hated, most deluded thing to
say. My answer is who doesn’t? Are we
living in dark ages where some guy would
come and scoop me up? Well if a gorgeous
guy does (cough cough)….. I don’t think all
men are like Hulk Hogan. I agree we need
safety but then there is police to protect you
in which by the way there are women as
well. If having a brother, son meant safety
then all women with a brother/son would
live happily forever, which is not the case.
· Most guys work and women don’t . Do you
want to sit at home and deal with a small
baby: good I am off to work!!!! OK so this is
something that is true and I agree with
however, there are many women who take
care of kids so that their husbands can
achieve their dreams and goals. There are
many women who want to spend time with
their kids as you cannot rewind the time
with your kids, I am one of them. Above all,
a lot of guys don’t want to marry a super
successful woman as she will not be giving
them enough time.
· I have seen many highly educated, very
prominent people in their field, uber rich
people not wanting to have a second child as
a girl why?? What difference will she make
in your life that you will not be able to
endure?
People might think whats going on? Nobody
thinks like that but you know very well you
do. In countries like India and China things
are changing but a second child as a
daughter rings a bell as no one wants more
than two so two girls means, having a third
child as a boy. You will think these Asians
are so dumb: really in this age and era?
Then I will clear the air for you that I have
heard from many Europeans who were betting
that their second child has to be a boy and I
don’t understand at all cause you see in
India the sentiment is that parents live with
their sons but whats the case with western
world? What difference it makes whether
your daughter/ son earn, you are not
getting a dime anyways. And above all if you
are expecting something in return, that
means you love them so that they take care
of you when you get old. Isnt that a bit
selfish?
So now I want to know, why are we deemed
less, why are we somehow treated as
inferior? I can tell you, cause no one if inferior
or superior, we are different. It’s like
comparing chocolate with vanilla. That’s
right I said it. The day we accept that we are
different and there is no need for a
comparison, it will end.
Everywhere I look, every culture I try to
explore, women are what it endows, of
course men too but we are the life of a
party, we symbolize you, we represent you,
we are an extension of you, we give life to
you, we leave all our dreams and hopes for
you, we are your half. There is no one less or
more here, we are meant for each other , to
be with each other, to cheer each other
when things go wrong and to celebrate our
happiness together.
Coming back to parents, when you say you
have two sons when you have a son and
daughter why don’t you say you have two
daughters? What’s so wrong in having a
daughter and above all why compare us and
above all why compare anyone to anyone?
Isnt this world supposed to be diverse and
aren’t we all supposed to be different in our
own way?
A lot of times when a girl does something
wrong she is being cussed out as to how
can she do this being a girl? Well she is a
human being first, human brain is the most
complex thing ever and I am sure we have
the same amount as guys. So if a guy is
weird so can be a girl. No I am not
‘appreciating the weirdness’ I am just saying
that why do you expect that if you have a
daughter she will give you any less troubles
than a boy ? It’s not true always and I am
saying from experience (don’t tell my
daughter psssh!!!!)
Cant any daughter just be a daughter? Why
you want to label someone as inferior as soon
as that person is born? You don’t even know
whether that person might out do anyone
you know. I just want to be me as there is
no one like me, whether biologically,
physically or mentally, I am a DNA that will
never be repeated again. I am unique and
so is everyone
