Nigeria teenage striker, Victor Osimhen has been
adjudged Youth Player of the Year at the 2015
Glo-CAF Awards Gala held on Thursday, 7
January 2016 in Abuja.
He fended off opposition from compatriot
Kelechi Nwakali, Malian duo Adama Traore and
Samuel Diarra and Yaw Yeboah of Ghana for the
award presented to best teenage footballer on
the continent.
The prize served a big surprise for the lanky
striker who celebrated his 17th birthday barely
nine days ago.
Osimhen wowed the world with his eye-popping
at the FIFA U-17 World Chile last October,
scoring 10 goals to emerge top scorer and as
well picking the Silver Ball (Second Best Player)
as Nigeria cruised to victory.
He becomes the second Nigerian to win the
award after Kelechi Iheanacho last year.
His prize was presented to him by CAF
Executive Committee member, Amadou Diakite.
