Supreme Court upholds Akwa Ibom, Abia govs’ elections

Today, the Supreme Court affirmed the
elections of Governor Udom Emmanuel
of Akwa Ibom State and Dr. Okezie
Ikpeazu of Abia State, both of PDP.
Emmanuel’s election was challenged
by Okon Umana of APC, while that of
Ikpeazu was challenged by Dr. Alex
Otti of APGA.
The Court of Appeal had nullified the
Akwa Ibom State governorship
election on December 18, 2015, while
it had removed Ikpeazu and declared
the APGA candidate, Otti, winner of
the election in Abia State, in a
judgment delivered on December 31,
