SaharaReporters has learned that
militants near Ogbe-Ijoh in Warri
South West Local Government Area
(LGA) have blown up another
section of the Nigerian National
Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)
pipeline.
SaharaReporters reliably learned
that the incident, which occurred at
the early hours of Friday morning,
was carried out by militants armed
with dynamite and other dangerous
weapons.
Confirming the incident, a
traditional ruler in the area, who
pleaded for anonymity, disclosed
that houses in his area were shaken
to their foundation from the blast.
He stressed that in his opinion the
militants responsible are not only
harming the nation but the next
generation of unborn Nigerians.
The traditional ruler also said that
he believed the explosion was
significant enough that it would be
a set back in oil production for the
country.
SaharaReporters attempted to reach
Colonel Isa Ado, the spokesman for
the Joint Task Force, but he was
unavailable to give official
confirmation.
However, other anonymous
military sources with knowledge of
the area confirmed the blast.
