In reaction to the allegation by the Peoples
Democratic Party that the All Progressives
Congress had plotted the recent
assassination attempt on the deputy Senate
president, Ike Ekweremadu, Comrade Timi
Frank, the ruling party acting spokesman, has
said the allegation was part of the party’s
induced hallucination.
The PDP said that the ruling party was also
planning assassination on other leaders of
the opposition party across the country.
In a statement on Thursday, November 19, in
Abuja, Frank advised the PDP to purge itself
of what he called the party’s cheap and
manipulative strategies that led to its poor
performance in the last 16 years, The Nation
reports.
The acting spokesman said: “It is unfortunate
that the PDP is yet to purge itself of its cheap
and manipulative strategies that only helped
escort it to the doldrums that it is in today.”
Frank said it was bemusing and canny of the
PDP to adopt such cheap and strange
propaganda in its attempt to taint the change
mantra the APC has sworn to betroth to the
nation.
He said: “The PDP is adopting its past known
strategy of cheap political gains, knowing well
that the ruling party is known for its adherence
to the rule of law and respect for sanctity of
life.
“The past 16 years of PDP’s rule saw a
minister, Chief Bola Ige, politicians like Harry
Marshall and Funso Williams assassinated with
no attempt to unravel the mysteries surrounding
their death.
“It would, therefore, be unfortunate for the PDP
to elevate this strategic act it had perfected
over the years to a political art or a propaganda
tool.
“Nigerians all over the world know that
President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC are
more concerned with cleaning the mess the
PDP-led government bequeathed to the
government than in chasing after lousy and
cheap propaganda of a misplaced party that is
pretending to be chasing self-restitution.”
The acting chairman admonished all
Nigerians to disregard the PDP’s latest
propaganda.
Further in the statement, Frank said that it
was funny that an alleged assassination
attempt would be carried out on a high
ranking officer of government without any
security report, with the police vehemently
denying the existence of such even when the
Department of State Service (DSS) and the
police formed part of the Ekweremadu’s
security detail.
He said: “The security challenges of the time,
bequeathed to us by the PDP who would rather
embezzle funds meant for protection of lives
and properties necessitate that President
Muhammadu Buhari and the APC to get more
concerned on how to bring the situation to a
stop as manifested by the December deadline
issued by Mr President than delving into cheap
political propaganda and machinations only
peculiar and orchestrated by the PDP.
Governance is a serious businesses and this
APC is committed to showing.”
