From 15 to 30 people lost their lives, and
over 130 sustained injuries after a suicide
bombing carried out by four bombers,
suspected to be Boko Haram
members, occured on the Koulfoua island on
the Chadian side of Lake Chad, according to
reports by Chadian and world media.

“Three suicide bombers blew themselves up
in three different places at the weekly market
on Loulou Fou, an island in Lake Chad,”
sources told AFP.
No group or individual has claimed
responsibility for the attacks yet, but Chadian
security officials who spoke to the Associate
Press said they believe the attack
was carried out by women who could have
been members of the Nigerian terrorist group
Boko Haram.
The Chad’s state TV, meanwhile, has
broadcasted a statement that put the number
of lost lives at a total of 19, including the
four bombers, and a number of injured people
at 130.
Chad, along with Niger and Cameroon, has
played a critical role in aiding the Nigerian
army in the latter’s attempts to retake
portions of northern Nigeria from the terrorist
group. In response to these losses, Boko
Haram has stepped up its attacks in Nigeria’s
ally countries.
Nigeria’s Department of State Services have
issued a statement today saying they have
apprehended a number of Boko Haram
members and uncovered plans to carry out
attacks on the FCT during the festive season.
At the recent high-profile security meeting,
army chieftains expressed confidence at
observing the December 31 deadline set by
President Muhammadu Buhari of conquering
and rooting out terrorism in Nigeria.
