Bayelsa Election: Unofficial Results For Governorship

The Bayelsa people have been deciding
today, December 5, who will be the next
governor of the state.
Timipre Marlin Sylva, a former governor of
the state representing the All Progressives
Congress, and Henry Seriake Dickson, a PDP
hopeful and the incumbent governor of the
state, are the main rivals in this battle.

The PDP candidate appears to be leading in
the Bayelsa state governorship election
judging by the results declared by the
Independent National Electoral Commission in
the following LGAs: Ogbia, Sagbama,
Kolukoma Opokuma LGA, where Timi Alaibe
and Dudafa hails from. The deputy governor
hails from Nembe LGA.

Southern Ijaw LGA
INEC electoral officer for Southern Ijaw local
government area has announced the
cancellation of election in the council. The
exercise would continue on Sunday because
of security incidents in parts of Southern
Ijaw.
It means that there won’t be any official
announcement of results until the entire
process is completed tomorrow.
The affected areas include the whole of
Southern Ijaw local government area; Ward 9
in Nembe local government area; 13 polling
units in Okoroma; ward 4 in Anyam and ward
5 in Okodi (both in Ogbia local government
area; Ward 6 and six other polling units in
Cape Formosa).
The press statement assured of “timely
movement of men and materials to the affected
places for accreditation to start by 8:00am
prompt.”
At least four persons were killed and several
others injured in Southern Ijaw today.
