24-year old Amelia Greville, was in search of fuller
lips to look like Kylie Jenner. Greville, who lives
in Bangkok and works as a teacher there, saw a
cheap deal on a Thai Groupon site for Juvéderm
lip injections at a clinic and purchased it. After
researching the brand and feeling safe that
Groupon was a 'trusted site', she was excited to
try them out. She was especially excited because
this was the brand Kylie Jenner uses.
After having the injections done in April of 2015,
she was initially happy with her new look.
However, it wasn't quite a happy ending for
Greville. Within months she was devastated when
her lips turned blue and lumpy with wart-like
lumps. She says the clinic injected her lips with
another fluid to correct the lumps, but it only
made them worse. Amelia Greville describes the
appearance of her lips as "grotesque" and
"mangled."
"I looked in the mirror and looked horrific. I cried
to my boyfriend at the time, but I didn't tell
anyone back home," Greville says of the first time
she noticed the lumps. She even says that she
can't stop herself from licking and biting the
bumps. "I’m compelled to do it. It's like my body
is saying "There's something foreign in your lip".
If I touch them they're so sore,' she said.
Recently Greville has gone public with her story
and has tried to raise £1,500 to correct her
botched lip job. The clinic who did the job has
contacted her and donated most of the money
towards the treatment, which she will have as
soon as possible at a specialist hospital.
To this day, she still is unsure if the clinic was
reputable or not but admits "I couldn't read the
comments on the clinic's Facebook page because
they were in Thai, but they had good reviews."
I'm glad she'll be able to correct the problem,
especially since she's a teacher.
